Will my insurance company actually accept drone footage?+
Every major South African insurer (Santam, OUTsurance, Old Mutual Insure, Discovery, Hollard, Bryte and others) routinely accepts aerial photos and video as part of a claim — assessors usually prefer it because the coverage is more complete than what someone on a ladder can shoot. We add GPS coordinates and timestamps to every photo, and the branded PDF report makes the package easy for an assessor to file.
How quickly can you actually be on site?+
Worcester and the Breede Valley: typically within 24 hours of a confirmed booking. Cape Town and the wider Cape Winelands: within 48 hours. Right after a major storm we sometimes have a backlog — book early.
How much does it cost?+
Most residential storm-damage flights fall in the R1,200–R3,500 range depending on property size and how far we have to travel. We quote a flat price upfront — no surprises — after you send us a photo of the damage on WhatsApp. Larger commercial sites or estates are quoted on the day.
Is my property safe to fly over? What about no-fly zones?+
Most residential addresses are absolutely fine. We check airspace before every flight (we're SACAA licensed, ROC UASOC.0001.2004) — if your property is in a restricted zone (close to an airport, military area, national park) we'll tell you immediately and arrange the relevant permissions, or recommend a ground-based alternative.
Do I need to be home for the flight?+
Not necessarily. We do need clear access to the property and a brief on what we're documenting. Many of our clients meet us at the gate, walk the pilot through the damage, then carry on with their day while we fly.
What if it's still raining or windy when you arrive?+
We'll re-book at no charge. We won't fly in conditions that compromise the footage quality — that defeats the purpose. We watch the weather window closely and confirm a few hours before takeoff.
